Step 1: Basic Information and Registration

Welcome to the blog for the Best Family Christmas 2009 at the Adventure Unlimited Ranches in Colorado!

I'm writing this to help everyone get organized and to make sure we can all enjoy next Christmas together.

Here you will find the important information you'll need to register you and your immediate family and reserve your spot. According to Linda from A/U (who I spoke with on the phone yesterday), we should all be submitting our registrations immediately. So don't wait! We wouldn't want you to be left out. She said there are other large family groups also wanting to sign up.

Please first look at this link for the A/U Christmas Camp

At the bottom of that page, click on "Apply Today!" It should bring you to a page entitled "How to Apply to Camp" with all the application forms . Under the 2009 section, click on "Adult/Family Application" and you can download the application (which is a pdf file).

Please complete the application for your family. Specify that you are with the Best Family (so they can put us in cabins next to one another). You must send in a non-refundable $100 deposit with your completed form in the mail.

The dates for 2009 are as follows:

Mon. December 21 – Sun. December 27, 2009

The rates are:

Adult (14-up): $875;
Youth (8-13): $725
Child (3-7): $575
Baby (0-2) no charge

The full payment is due by October 15th, so there's still plenty of time for that. But the $100 deposit is due with your application to reserve your spot.

The website lists all the activites that are included. All meals are provided. I am copying from the website about the activities provided:

"Enjoy a testimony meeting, hymn sings, and caroling. Express your creativity in our arts and crafts center or share your musical talents at our variety show. Search the forest for that perfect Christmas tree! Spend an evening building gingerbread houses and decorating Christmas cookies. Valerie Lodge is the perfect place to unwind after a day of activity or spend time by the fire reading a good book, visiting, studying, or taking in the views of the majestic Arkansas Valley.

The spectacular backdrop of the snow-capped Rockies is your setting to enjoy a variety of winter activities including downhill and cross-country skiing, ice skating, broom hockey, horseback riding, sledding, and snow-shoeing. We will offer daily excursions to some of Colorado's favorite ski areas including Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Vail, Keystone, and a great area for families, Ski Cooper. You'll also have the opportunity to experience the serenity and beauty of the mountains on one of our cross-country ski trips. Christmas in the Rockies doesn't get any better than this."

When I spoke to Linda yesterday, she also told me that childcare is provided every day for children ages 0-9, which is included in the tuition. They have a "kids camp" each day where they will take the kids sledding and on pony rides while parents can go skiing for the day or do other activities. They also will provide babysitting at night at no extra charge so parents can enjoy activities at the lodge while their children sleep.

Dinner is eaten together every night.

Please email me if you have any questions. Talk to your family and send in your registration IMMEDIATELY so we can enjoy Christmas in Colorado all together.

Linda said she would email me the schedule they used this year for daily activities and events so we can get a sense of how the days go at the camp. Her server was down so she said she would email it to me next week. I will post it once I get it. Stay tuned...
